MAN TCA.
MAN's axial turbocharger for large engines, presented in 2002 as the successor of the NA series. The first unit, a TCA77, went into service on a 7S50MC-C.

How it's built
Inside the TCA.
- Axial-flow turbine with wide-chord blades
- Journal bearings on engine oil; the thrust bearing can be inspected without removing the shaft
- Uncooled casing with integrated burst protection and sealing air supply
- Compressor wheel change with basic tooling, without dismantling the compressor casing
- Options: variable turbine area (VTA) and a titanium compressor wheel
- Pressure ratio up to 5.5; gas inlet temperature up to 500 °C (two-stroke) or 650 °C (four-stroke)
